James Mangold To Direct 'Disorder' Remake

If the highest compliment a foreign or arthouse film can receive is decent distribution in the United States, than the second highest compliment would be a remake. The latter honor will fall upon Alice Wincour‘s “Disorder” starring Matthias Schoenaerts and Diane Kruger, which premiered at Cannes in 2015 (we gave the “part home-invasion film, part bodyguard romance and part PTSD drama” a B grade) and then quietly opened in cinemas the following year. Now, it’s getting a Hollywood redo from some intriguing talent.

James Mangold (“Logan,” “Copland“) is now attached to direct the new version of “Disorder,” which intriguingly features a script by the always-excellent Taylor Sheridan (“Sicario,” “Hell or High Water,” “Wind River“). The story revolves around a Special Services soldier, Vincent, who takes a security gig for a wealthy businessman and must protect his client’s wife and child, while dealing with his own post-traumatic stress. There’s certainly some rich material to mine here.

This one is moving fast, with plans to start filming before the end of the year, marking “Disorder” Mangold’s first project following “Logan.” So sorry Don Winslow fans, it means Mangold’s adaptation of “The Force” will have to wait for now. [Deadline]
