Writer Damon Lindelof And Director Craig Zobel Teaming For 'The Hunt' From Blumhouse Productions

It looks like superstar producer Jason Blum is venturing outside of the horror genre for his next production.

According to Variety, Blum, and his Blumhouse Productions, is produce an action-thriller titled “The Hunt” for Universal Pictures. Written by “Lost” veteran Damon Lindelof and Nick Cuse, “The Hunt” has already snagged Craig Zobel to direct. This is a reunion, of sorts, with Lindelof, Cuse, and Zobel all previously working on the HBO series “The Leftovers.”

Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions had a great 2017, producing such films as “Split,” “Happy Death Day,” and of course, the critically-acclaimed, Oscar-nominated blockbuster “Get Out.” Previous to that, the producer has a long list of micro-budget films that have turned a tidy profit for the producer, and will next release “Truth or Dare” in April.

Lindelof is a bit of mixed bag, in the eyes of most fans. While he was credited for being one of the creative forces behind “Lost,” which propelled his career into the stratosphere, his output has been hit or miss, most notably on the controversial “Alien” spin-off “Prometheus.” However, he recently redeemed himself with the incredible series “The Leftovers,” which he collaborated with Nick Cuse on.

Director Craig Zobel is probably best known for his films “Compliance” and “Z for Zachariah.” However, since then, the filmmaker has been dabbling in TV, directing episodes of “Westworld,” “The Leftovers,” “American Gods,” and “Outcast.”

According to the report, Universal Pictures won a bidding war for the film, but is keeping the plot details under wraps for now. No word on a cast or production schedule. However, with the talent behind this project, “The Hunt” is bound to attract some A-list talent.
