Got a Tip?

Jennifer Connelly Will Tell ‘A Winter’s Tale’

nullIt seems Jennifer Connelly has been out of the spotlight a bit for the last few years, mostly thanks to a string of movies — "Creation," "Virginia," "The Dilemma," "Salvation Boulevard" — that just did nothing for her. But she seems to be on the rebound. Of course, she booked a ticket on board Darren Aronofsky's "Noah" and now she's set to reunite with the writer of one of her career highlights, "A Beautiful Mind."

Connelly is in talks to take a role in Akiva Goldsman's directorial debut "A Winter's Tale." Based on the acclaimed 1983 novel by Mark Helprin, the story follows a thief (Colin Farrell) who breaks into a wealthy man’s (William Hurt) home, sparking a relationship with the man’s terminally ill daughter (Jessica Brown Findlay) with reincarnation, a flying horse, and a time-shift of 100 years all playing a part in the plot. Matt Bomer and Lucy Griffiths will play Farrell's parents, while Eva Marie Saint's "pivotal" role is being kept under wraps. Connelly will play the girl's mother, with Russell Crowe and Will Smith popping up in cameo roles.

So the cast is pretty strong, but can Goldsman turn from writing to directing and get the job done? We'll see. Production will get underway this fall. [Deadline]
