Jeremy Renner Won't Return In 'Mission: Impossible 6'

Nowadays, big stars love being part of massive franchises. If you’re Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, you join a new franchise every couple months. However, if you’re Jeremy Renner, you end up getting dumped from franchises. Showbiz 411 is reporting that poor Jeremy Renner won’t star in the upcoming untitled sixth film in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, after joining the series in “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” in 2011.

Don’t cry for Mr. Renner just yet because, according to the report, the actor had to bow out of the Tom Cruise mega-franchise due to commitments to his other mega-franchise, “The Avengers.” Jeremy Renner is currently deep into production of not one, but two, ‘Avengers’ films. So it seems like the recent addition of Henry Cavill to the “Mission: Impossible” family was a way to make up for the fact that the upcoming film is losing a team member.

This isn’t the first time that Renner has been left out of a franchise. Just last year, the Bourne franchise was continued without Renner after his “Bourne Legacy” failed at the box office. Instead, Matt Damon rejoined to reprise his role in “Jason Bourne.” It looks like Renner is just fine with being a superhero, instead. And hey, maybe like Ving Rhames, he’ll step out for an installment, and return for another one down the line.

Odds are, Tom Cruise will be just fine without Renner when the next “Mission: Impossible” film is released on July 27, 2018.
