Jessica Chastain Joins 'The Huntsman'

Zero Dark Thirty, ChastainWe’re not gonna give Jessica Chastain too much shade for this decision, because 99% of time she works with auteurs on movies both big ("Interstellar") and small ("Miss Julie"), to name a couple of examples. Still, it’s a bit curious to see the actress stepping into a blockbuster sequel/spinoff, but hey, maybe that’s the appeal.

Anyway, Chastain is joining Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, and Emily Blunt in "The Huntsman." Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, the visual effects supervisor on "Snow White And The Huntsman," will direct the flick and make his feature debut, replacing Frank Darabont. Big shoes to fill, on an even bigger project. But certainly in the acting department he’s being given a first rate group of people to work with in this movie that focuses on the titular huntsman and Ravenna, and how they crossed paths before Snow White came into the picture. We’re not sure this is a tale that’s aching to be told, but sure, whatever.

"The Huntsman" arrives on April 22, 2016. [Variety]
