Got a Tip?

Julianne Moore Is Getting Presidential For ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay’

nullIt’s rather remarkable that “The Hunger Games” franchise has managed to snare the kind of top tier talent it’s YA competition has failed to match. With Jennifer Lawrence, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Donald Sutherland, Lenny Kravitz, Toby Jones and more getting in the mix for the first round, and with Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jena Malone, Jeffrey Wright and more being rounded up for ‘Catching Fire,’ it’s unusual to see this level of talent commitment — and it seems that will continue right through to the finale.

Deadline reports that Julianne Moore is being lined up to star in the two-parter conclusion “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.” She would be taking the role of President Alma Coin, the head of District 13, who leads rebellion against the Capitol and factors very heavily in the lines of Katiness, Prim, Peeta and more. It’s a major role, and while the paycheck is probably nice, we’d have to imagine the fact that the script is being written by “Game Change” scribe Danny Strong (you’ll recall she played Sarah Palin in that film to great acclaim) is likely a nice incentive as well. Update: Moore is now confirmed for the role in ‘Mockingjay.’

So, fans, is this good casting? Let us know below. “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay” two-parter hits on November 21, 2014 on November 20, 2015.
