Keanu Reeves "Would Love" To Make Another 'Constantine' But The Studio Isn't Interested

Keanu Reeves is one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood today. His “John Wick” franchise is one of the most exciting recent action film series of the past decade. Reeves is also set to revive “The Matrix” in the upcoming sequel, ‘Resurrections.’ And he’s often thought of as the nicest dude on the planet. But apparently, being a really nice guy, a super famous movie star, and someone able to resurrect the “Bill & Ted” franchise doesn’t mean you get everything you want.

Speaking to Stephen Colbert recently, Keanu Reeves was asked if there is another character from his filmography who he’d like to see come back in a new film. As mentioned, he’s already brought back “Bill & Ted” (though the film didn’t necessarily reignite the fanbase) and he’s on the verge of bringing back “The Matrix,” so there’s precedent for this idea.

And if you follow his career quite a bit, you’re probably not overly surprised by his response.

“I would love to be John Constantine again,” he admitted. “I’ve tried…I would love to.”

John Constantine, of course, is the main character from his 2005 horror thriller feature, “Constantine,” directed by Francis Lawrence. Based (loosely) on the DC Comics character of the same name, “Constantine” is about a magical demon hunter who attempts to save the world while also dealing with his own sort of troubled past. The character has been revived as a “Constantine” TV series without Keanu Reeves, but that show has no connection to his feature.

There have been rumblings of a new “Constantine” film in recent years. We’ve seen producers talking about the idea to bring it back. However, Warner Bros. is reportedly interested in bringing back “Constantine” as a TV series with a completely rebooted premise and cast. This would presumably leave Keanu Reeves out of luck.

So, if you’re wondering about a situation where a studio would hear a pitch from Keanu Reeves and be like “nah, we’re good, bruh,” then it’s with “Constantine” and Warner Bros. So, it would seem like that hope is officially dead.
