Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige Updates 'Guardians 3' Status & Confirms 'Avengers 4' Trailer By End Of 2018

It’s now almost November, and we are three months removed from “Ant-Man & the Wasp” and still over three months away from “Captain Marvel.” Marvel Cinematic Universe fans are officially foaming at the mouth, looking for any shred of Marvel Studios news to hold them over until their next “hit” of the good stuff. Well, according to Kevin Feige, it looks like fans might get that sweet, sweet Marvel goodness before the end of the year.

Speaking at a recent “Black Panther” screening (as that film attempts to build some Oscar buzz), the Marvel Studios president provided some updates on when we might get that long-awaited “Avengers 4” trailer and what the deal is with “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” (via film critic Erick Weber on Twitter). Ultimately, there’s good news and bad news.

Now, at The Playlist, we always like to start with the bad news, first. And as we suspected, thanks to a very vocal Dave Bautista, the upcoming ‘Guardians 3’ has officially been put “on hold” according to Feige. This comes on the heels of James Gunn’s sudden departure from the film, following some decade-old tweets resurfaced, and the wheels falling off a production that was set to begin in early 2019. Now, there’s not only a delayed production but as of now, there’s no guarantee a third ‘Guardians’ film will come out in the next few years.

Okay, with that out of the way, let’s talk about the good news. Feige says that the “Avengers 4” trailer that has been the source of immense rumors and speculation will finally be ready to be watched hundreds of millions of times (and analyzed to death all over the Internet) “before the end of the year.” Now, with only two months left in 2018, that gives fans 8 weeks, at most, before we get the first trailer for one of next summer’s most anticipated films. And that means we’ll finally hear the full title of the film, after Internet sleuths, fans, and even your mother have their theories on what the film will be called. (For the record, I think ‘Annihilation’ is a little lame and would love for it to be ‘The Last Avenger.’)

Oh and as a little additional morsel of news, Feige says that Marvel’s version of Aquaman, aka Namor the Sub-Mariner, could make an appearance in the MCU, but the if and when of that is still not known at this time.

While the first decade of the MCU ends in 2018, Marvel Studios is set to end the year with a bang, leading to what can only be assumed will be another successful decade.
