Kevin Feige Talks What Disney/Fox Deal Means For Marvel

Fanboys have already been dreaming about what the possibilities might be for Marvel, once the whole Disney/Fox deal goes through. A plethora of characters — X-Men, Fantastic Four, more — will be coming through the doors of the mouse house. However, there is still a lot of paperwork and approvals to be done, so any talk of Wolverine joining The Avengers or whatever is very premature. In fact, as far as Kevin Feige is concerned, it’s business as usual until the Disney/Fox thing becomes real.

The Marvel movie guru is now doing the rounds for the very well receivedBlack Panther,” but he admitted that at the moment, the Disney/Fox deal isn’t part of his thought process when it comes to his future plans.

“The truth of the matter as I understand it is the deal has to be figured out,” he told Vulture. “There’s been no communication. We’re not thinking about it. We’re focusing on everything we’ve already announced. If and when the deal actually happens, we’ll start to think more about it. Until then, we have a lot to do.”

In fact, Feige adds that any new films sparked from Disney’s acquisition of Fox would be “years away,” and right now, Marvel’s movies through 2019 — which include “Avengers: Infinity War,” “Captain Marvel,” the “Avengers: Infinity War” sequel, and the “Spider-Man: Homecoming” sequel — are proceeding as planned. Beyond that? Well, it’ll be hard for Feige to ignore the creative opportunities that will be available once even more characters are at his disposal, but like everything else he’s done with Marvel so far, it sounds like he’s doing to take the time to do it right.
