Actress Kirsten Dunst is looking to not only board Sofia Coppola‘s next movie, but is teasing an ambition to get back into bigger movies like “A Minecraft Movie 2” so she can make a bunch of money.
While recently speaking with Town & Country to promote her upcoming fugitive dramedy “Roofman,” Dunst briefly teased a reunion with Coppola for her mysterious and untitled next film (she’s already read a script) that is expected to shoot sometime in 2026, as the two previously worked together on “The Virgin Suicides,” “Marie Antoinette,” and their last collaboration, a remake of “The Beguiled,” released back in 2017.
She is also aiming to get back into the blockbuster game, mentioning a desire to get involved with “A Minecraft Movie 2,” so Dunst can “make a pile of cash.”
“Maybe I can just make a movie where I don’t lose money?” Dunst quipped, suggesting that her recent string of movies hasn’t been entirely lucrative for her and that a project like “A Minecraft Movie 2” could be a way for that to happen.
Seemingly, Dunst is referring to the big bucks assumed to have been made by the main leads, Jack Black and Jason Momoa, in the first installment, as the movie ended up earning an impressive $995 million at the global box office. There is also early development on the next installment, so, in theory, Dunst campaigning for a part, joking or not, could lead to a real offer from Legendary.
Coppola is about to debut her Marc Jacobs (popular fashion designer) documentary “Marc by Sofia” that will be screening at the Venice Film Festival, so perhaps over the media blitz, we’ll learn more about this new feature.
“Roofman,” directed and starring Channing Tatum alongside Dunst, is heading to theaters on October 10.
