Lady Gaga Fans Tweeting Fake 'Venom' Reviews To Help Promote 'A Star Is Born' As Twitter Is Still Horrible

As you’re sitting there reading this article in your office, at home, or from the bathroom (you’re out there, own it), you probably have no idea that the world is in utter chaos. No, Trump didn’t say anything dumb or crazy today. Oh, never mind, he did. But other than that, the real reason why there is absolute madness in the streets today is Lady Gaga fans have declared war on “Venom” fans. It’s getting serious, you guys, and it all stems from “A Star is Born” debuting the same day as “Venom.” Because, clearly, you can only see one film this weekend.

Buzzfeed does a brave, honorable job of reporting on the front lines of this devastation. According to the report, Lady Gaga fans (affectionally known as “little monsters”) are using lies and deception to affect this weekend’s box office as they have started posting fake reviews on Twitter for “Venom,” calling the film absolute garbage. (Side note: while it was tough to verify that these reviews were indeed fake, as the film looks like it will be absolute garbage, Buzzfeed did the due diligence and confirmed they are fake.)

The go-to fake “Venom” tweet reads, “I am the biggest Marvel fan but I just watched #Venom and I don’t know what to say. Easily the worst movie this year. I expected so much better and now I’m just disappointed.” Again, yes, it sounds legit. But don’t be fooled, this is a hoax!

Apparently, the “little monsters” are known for waging wars on unsuspecting people and things. They are the cause of Ed Sheeran being bullied off Twitter and various other feuds with “fandoms.” Buzzfeed also notes that they’ve been accused multiple times of being racist and sexist. It has gotten so bad in the past that Lady Gaga herself has spoken out to encourage her “little monsters” to be more courteous of others.

As for the reason for the latest attack, one of the trolls said, “It’s us Gaga fans creating fake IDs to trash the ‘Venom’ premiere. They both are getting released on the same day, so we want more audience for ‘A Star Is Born.’”

Yes, the story gets crazier and crazier, as all things do on Twitter, with Marvel fans blaming WB for bribing critics and DC fans for spreading lies. It’s exhausting. Feel free to head over to Buzzfeed to follow along.

We hope this hasn’t alarmed you too much. Hopefully, you know to be careful about which film you “stan” for on Twitter. Because as of today, until the end of the weekend, you must choose — are you Team Gaga or Team Venom? Or you know, just go see both because they’re two completely different genres, each with their redeeming qualities and missteps.
