Rumor: Lando Calrissian Might Show Up In 'Star Wars: Episode IX'

Star Wars” fans, now’s the time when you go grab your grains of salt. We have a brand-spanking-new rumor for you, and if true, it could explain just what type of nostalgia the folks at Lucasfilm have in store for you in “Star Wars: Episode IX.”

Ready?

Okay, according to “Star Wars” site Fantha Tracks (who’s known to have a couple scoops every occasion), actor Billy Dee Williams, aka Lando Calrissian, will be back for the final chapter in the Skywalker Saga. The report claims to have confirmed this rumor with two independent sources, and they believe the announcement will be happening sooner than later. We shall see.

Lando showing up in the next “Star Wars” film isn’t a completely crazy idea. The character has had a bit of a resurgence in the last few months, with Donald Glover taking on the role in the ‘Solo’ spin-off film. Add to that the fact that all three of the original stars of the films aren’t scheduled to return in the next film, and you have a rumor that might actually come true.

The report doesn’t claim to know the amount of time Lando will factor in the film. Perhaps, if he does actually show up, it’ll be just as a cameo. Or maybe, the character will get a true supporting role. We all know that J.J. Abrams is a huge fan of the original films, as he basically recreated ‘A New Hope’ for ‘The Force Awakens.’ It wouldn’t be a huge shock that the filmmaker is pulling out all the stops for the final film in the saga. If any film deserves a big send-off with cameos galore, it’s probably ‘Episode IX.’

We’ll have to wait and see what happens when ‘Episode IX’ hits theaters on December 20, 2019. Guess this is the unofficial kick-off to the next cycle of “Star Wars” rumors, huh?
