Leonardo DiCaprio Fights Climate Change In Trailer For Documentary 'Before The Flood'

One of the many falsehoods spouted by Donald Trump during the presidential nominee debate on Monday evening, was that he never said climate change was a hoax created by China. To put it in words that Trump might understand: wrong. The tycoon who won’t release his tax returns tweeted that very theory a few years ago, and that head-in-the-sand thinking is exactly why it continues to be a challenge for the United States to make meaningful change when it comes to reducing emissions, and doing everything we can to start reversing the dangerous impact we’ve had on the environment. And one person who has been making serious noise to draw attention to the issue is Leonardo DiCaprio, and he takes the focus of the upcoming documentary “Before The Flood.”

Directed by Fisher Stevens, and executive produced by Martin Scorsese, the documentary follows DiCaprio as he travels the world meeting with scientists, politicians, activists, policy makers and more, to learn more about climate change and what can be done to save the planet. Here’s the official synopsis:

From Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Fisher Stevens and Academy Award-winning actor, environmental activist and U.N. Messenger of Peace Leonardo DiCaprio, Before the Flood presents a riveting account of the dramatic changes now occurring around the world due to climate change, as well as the actions we as individuals and as a society can take to prevent catastrophic disruption of life on our planet. The film follows DiCaprio as he travels to five continents and the Arctic speaking to scientists, world leaders, activists and local residents to gain a deeper understanding of this complex issue and investigate concrete solutions to the most pressing environmental challenge of our time.

“Before The Flood” opens in New York and Los Angeles on October 21st, and airs on the National Geographic channel on October 30th.
