Leonardo DiCaprio has made a career out of being one hell of a charming guy. And it appears that charm is going to come in handy as he is set to portray famous cult leader, Jim Jones, in a new feature film.

According to Deadline, Leonardo DiCaprio is set to produce and star in a new film, “Jim Jones,” about, well, Jim Jones. For those that don’t know, Jones was an infamous religious leader that took his cult members to Guyana and started the Jonestown settlement. While there, he convinced more than 900 people to drink poison, resulting in a mass suicide. The new film is written by Scott Rosenberg, who is probably best known for being the screenwriter behind “Venom,” both “Jumanji” sequels, and “Gone in 60 Seconds.”

DiCaprio has been a very busy actor recently. Not only is he set to lead the cast of the upcoming Netflix satire, “Don’t Look Up,” which is arriving later this year, but he is also in the middle of production on the next Martin Scorsese film, “Killers of the Flower Moon.” Earlier this year, he was also attached to star in a new English-language remake of the Oscar-winning film, “Another Round.” So, it’s unclear when he might begin work on “Jim Jones,” though first we’d likely have to hear who is directing the film, obviously.

MGM has already snatched up the rights to the feature, so it would appear, for now at least, “Jim Jones” is going to be a theatrical film. Though, it’s important to know that MGM is now owned by Amazon, so we could eventually see this feature show up on Prime Video. But until then, it’s all speculation.
