'Little America' Trailer: Apple TV+ Hopes It's New Anthology Series Will Kick Off 2020 In A Positive Way

The launch of Apple TV+ hasn’t been, uh, spectacular, to say the least. With a star-studded line-up featuring A-list talent such as Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Jason Momoa, Hailee Steinfeld, and more, the original programming has been the subject of some pretty terrible reviews and almost no buzz. Let’s not even talk about Apple’s first original film, “The Banker.” Not a great thing when you’re trying to sell a monthly subscription. But with the recently released “Servant,” things are beginning to look up. And the upcoming “Little America” hopes to continue the positive trend in 2020.

In the first trailer for “Little America,” we see that the minds behind “The Big Sick” (Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon) and “Master of None” (Alan Yang) have created an anthology series that is supposed to not only make you laugh but also show eight heartfelt stories of immigrants attempting to find a better life in the US. No matter where they arrive from, whether it’s Europe, Africa, Asian, or elsewhere, “Little America” hopes to show that all these people want is to capture the American dream and start a brand-new life for themselves and their loved ones.

The cast of the anthology series includes Zachary Quinto (‘Star Trek‘ franchise), Haaz Sleiman (“Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan“), Mélanie Laurent (“Inglourious Basterds“), Shaun Toub (“The Path to 9/11,” “Little King”), Conphidance (“I am My Own Mother“), and Sherilyn Fenn (“Twin Peaks”).

Much like the rest of the Apple TV+ original series, “Little America” has already been picked up for a second season. However, will the anthology follow the same trend as the previous Apple series with middling-to-bad reviews? We’ll find out when “Little America” arrives on January 17.

Here’s the synopsis:

Inspired by the true stories featured in Epic Magazine, “Little America” goes beyond the headlines to bring to life the funny, romantic, heartfelt and surprising stories of immigrants in America. The first season consists of eight half-hour episodes, each with its own unique story from different parts of the world.
