You’ve likely heard of Sharon Jones and Charles Bradley, and perhaps you’ve seen their documentaries (“Miss Sharon Jones!” and “Charles Bradley: Soul Of America“). However, those two late, great soul titans are the cornerstones of Daptone Records, and in the upcoming film “Living On Soul,” you’ll get to meet the rest of their musical family.
Directed by Cory Bailey and Jeff Broadway, this docu-concert film was filmed during the label’s three-night, sold-out residency at the historic Apollo Theater, and features performances by Sharon Jones, Charles Bradley and the rest of the Grammy-nominated Daptone Records crew including Antibalas, Menahan Street Band, The Budos Band, and more. It’s going to be very hard for you stay in your seat for this one.
