It seems like every year, actress Natalie Portman finds herself in the thick of things come awards season. It seems as if she only chooses films where she’s able to stretch her muscles and attempt to show why she’s an Oscar-winning actress. This year, Portman looks to garner some awards buzz thanks to the upcoming film “Lucy in the Sky.”
And with the film coming around the corner, we are thrilled to give our readers a chance to hear an exclusive track from the score for “Lucy in the Sky.” Directed by Noah Hawley, the film tells the story of an astronaut, Lucy (Portman), that finds herself returning to Earth after a space mission and discovering that her connection to humanity is beginning to unravel.

The score is composed by Jeff Russo. He’s worked with Hawley in the past, most notably as the Emmy-winning composer for the FX anthology series, “Fargo.” In addition to that series, he’s worked with the filmmaker on the comic book series, “Legion.” Russo also has “Star Trek: Discovery,” “Snowfall,” “Treadstone,” “Altered Carbon,” and “Lucifer” under his belt.
“The score for ‘Lucy in the Sky’ has been some of the most fulfilling and challenging work I’ve done,” said the composer. “From utilizing custom made instruments to writing emotionally charged melodies for this character study, I had to dive deep to find the tone for Lucy.”

In LUCY IN THE SKY, Natalie Portman plays Lucy Cola, a strong woman whose determination and drive as an astronaut take her to space, where she’s deeply moved by the transcendent experience of seeing her life from afar. Back home as Lucy’s world suddenly feels too small, her connection with reality slowly unravels.
“Lucy in the Sky” arrives in theaters on October 4, with the soundtrack being available digitally on that day, as well.
