Madonna Is Collaborating With Diablo Cody On A Screenplay For... Something

Unlike many singers who have tried to crossover into acting over the decades, Madonna has done so with some pretty great success. She’s starred in a number of popular films over the years, including “Desperately Seeking Susan,” “Dick Tracy,” “A League of Their Own,” and “Evita,” just to name several. She’s also tried her had at filmmaking, as well, co-writing and directing two features over the years. And it would appear she’s looking to flex her filmmaking muscles again, as she revealed a potential project with none other than screenwriter Diablo Cody.

Over on Instagram, Madonna took time out of her quarantine schedule to share a video of her working with Cody on a screenplay. The singer wrote, “When you’re stuck in a house with multiple injuries what do you do.? ………..Write a Screenplay with Diablo Cody about…………..?????????????????????????”

The caption accompanied a minute-long video that is edited together showing Madonna working alongside Cody on…something. She’s talking about music at one point and also describing one of her more iconic outfits, so we could be looking at a Madonna biopic, perhaps? Or maybe it’s just a fictional story about a Madonna-like person? Or maybe it’s nothing at all and it was just an excuse for the singer to shove nuts up her nose and make a funny face?

Cody is probably best known for her Oscar-winning screenplay for “Juno.” She’s also written features such as “Jennifer’s Body” and most recently, “Tully.” The writer is attached to work on a future HBO series with her “Juno” and “Tully” collaborator Jason Reitman. However, it’s unclear what stage of development that is in. Perhaps, she’s making her Madonna script the next project on her slate?

Either way, we’ll keep an eye on this and see if anything comes from it. A “Madonna” biopic isn’t a crazy idea, especially given how Hollywood is seemingly in love with musical dramas recently. So, perhaps Madonna is ready to cash in on her own headline-making career?
