The First Episode Of The Disney+ Series 'The Mandalorian' Will Feature A "Dramatic" Spoiler For The 'Star Wars' Universe

With Apple TV+ just a couple of days away and Disney+ just less than two weeks after, the Streaming Wars are upon us. And while Netflix and Amazon have been living in this streaming space for years already, there’s no denying that the newcomers have the money to make it a fair competition. However, in the case of Disney+, the Mouse House has something the other platforms don’t — blockbuster franchises. And according to a new report from the New York Times, it appears that Disney is going to kick things off with a bang, with a major “Star Wars” revelation on launch day, thanks to “The Mandalorian.”

While there’s not much context or any tease of what the spoiler might actually entail, the report says that Disney+ series “The Mandalorian” will feature “a dramatic ‘Star Wars’-universe spoiler” in the very first episode of the series. That means, if you are a “Star Wars” fan and were holding out on whether or not you had to subscribe to Disney+, then the company is making sure that everyone is going to fork over at least one month of fees to avoid being spoiled from the numerous blogs and social media posts that will surely arise from the revelation.

We’ve known for a while now that Disney is putting a ton of faith in its streaming endeavor. Hundreds of millions of dollars are being put into series such as “The Mandalorian” to ensure that people subscribe to Disney+ for fear of missing out on vital information about the beloved franchises, including the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the aforementioned galaxy far, far away.

“The Mandalorian” is seemingly relatively unconnected from previous films and TV series in the franchise, as it focuses on a new character in a part of the universe that hasn’t really been discussed much in the films and TV series. So, the idea that there is a “dramatic” spoiler in the first episode leads us to believe that there is either a big cameo of some sort or a revelation about the history of a character that ties them into the greater canon.

If nothing else, the news that there’s a big spoiler is going to be great marketing for Disney, as “The Mandalorian” episode in question launches with the new streaming service on November 12.
