MTV Names 'The Dark Knight Rises' The Best Film Of 2012

nullOkay, we've had the lists from the high brow movie magazines, the exclusive critics groups, various newspapers and magazines, but what about one from somewhere that has a bit of pulse on what the folks are actually seeing at the multiplex? Well, MTV has dropped their top ten movies of the year, and while some may balk at the populist list, we gotta give them credit for highlighting a couple of overlooked movies.

Yes, Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" tops the list, and "The Avengers" also slots, which should make comic book fans happy, but we're especially glad to see some love for "Perks Of Being A Wallflower." It's one of the best movies teen movies in years, and we're kind of bummed it didn't get a wider release or even more of a push, and it was certainly a big pleasant surprise. Also, ethough it kind of died in theaters, the ballsy and bonkers "Cabin In The Woods" turned the entire horror genre on its head with reckless glee, so it's good to see it hasn't been forgotten.

Check out the rest of the ten below, and as always let us know your thoughts. For all The Playlist's year-end coverage make sure to follow all our Best Of 2012 features.
