First 10 Minutes Of 'The Old Man & The Gun' Give Fans A Taste Of Robert Redford's (Potential) Swan Song

One of the films that seemed poised for an awards season run, but has seemingly been left behind, is David Lowery’sThe Old Man & the Gun.” Even with positive reviews, as well as, great performances from Robert Redford and Sissy Spacek, ‘Old Man’ just isn’t a major part of the Oscar conversation, and probably fell under the radar of film fans after it hit theaters. Well, perhaps this new video from Fox Searchlight will help spark an interest in the film.

In honor of “The Old Man & the Gun” hitting digital this week, and soon to be on Blu-ray, Fox Searchlight has gone ahead and released an “extended preview” (aka the first ten minutes) of the film. Consider this the first hit from a dealer that’s expecting you’ll like it so much, you’ll want to come back for more immediately.

For those unfamiliar, ‘Old Man’ tells the true story of a man who has escaped prison numerous times and continues to rob banks well into his twilight years. Along the way, he attracts the attention of a detective, and he gains the love of a woman who accepts him for the criminal that he is.

The film stars Redford and Spacek, alongside Casey Affleck, Danny Glover, Tom Waits, and Tika Sumpter. ‘Old Man’ was written and directed by David Lowery.

“The Old Man & the Gun” is available on digital now and will hit Blu-ray on January 15.

THE OLD MAN AND THE GUN is based on the true story of Forrest Tucker (Robert Redford), from his audacious escape from San Quentin at the age of 70 to an unprecedented string of heists that confounded authorities and enchanted the public.
