Quentin Tarantino's 'Once Upon A Time' 4K UHD Release Features 20 Minutes Of New Footage & Vinyl Record

Over the last weekend, Sony decided to re-expand Quentin Tarantino’s latest film, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” in over 1,600 theaters across North America. The new release of the film hoped to capitalize on an additional 10 minutes of footage that bookends the almost-three-hour film and lure in audiences wanting to catch the film one more time. Unfortunately, the film didn’t have a huge weekend (only made $550,000), as it appears that many film fans decided to stay home and wait for an even longer version on home release or on Netflix. Well, it seems as if that patience is going to pay off, as the upcoming special edition 4K, Blu-ray, and digital release of ‘Once Upon a Time’ is going to have a lot more than 10 minutes worth of footage.

According to Sony, when ‘Once Upon a Time’ arrives on digital, 4K, and Blu-ray in the next couple of months, the film will be accompanied by some great special features, including over 20 minutes of new footage for the film. The exact details of the footage is still unknown, but as mentioned before, we know that there is an absolute ton of scenes that didn’t make the final cut of Tarantino’s latest, so we could be looking at a lot more than just extended or alternate scenes.

In addition, if you’re someone that still enjoys physical media, the special edition 4K release will actually riff on the nostalgia present in the 1969-set film by including a 7-inch vinyl record with songs from the film on it, as well as a poster for one of Rick Dalton’s films, and a Mad Magazine parody of “Bounty Law.” We’re going to guess that Tarantino fans are going to eat this up.

The film’s incredible cast includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Julia Butters, Margaret Qualley, Timothy Olyphant, Luke Perry, Austin Butler, Dakota Fanning, Emile Hirsch, Bruce Dern, and Al Pacino. And with other actors in the film, such as Nicholas Hammond, Damon Herriman, and Damian Lewis, seeing their roles greatly reduced in the editing of the film, those additional scenes could include quite a few other big names.

The digital release of “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” will occur on November 26, with the 4K and Blu-ray coming on December 10. Just in time for the holidays.
