After going viral with comedy skits years ago, Andrew Bowser has taken his character, Onyx the Fortuitious, to the big screen in the upcoming film, ‘Talisman of Souls.’
As seen in the trailer for the horror-comedy, “Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls” brings the title character (known most for viral comedy videos on social media) to life in a feature-length story about the silly goth getting involved in a ritual hoping to bring a demon from Hell to Earth. Hijinks ensue.
The film stars Andrew Bowser, Jeffrey Combs, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Barbara Crampton, Ralph Ineson, Rivkah Reyes, TC Carson, Arden Myrin, and Melanie Chandra. In addition to starring, Bowser also wrote, directed, and produced the film.
We were able to watch ‘Onyx’ during its run at this year’s Sundance, and in our review, we said, “As it stands now, despite a delightful, endearing performance from Bowser, ‘Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls’ is a competent, if not bland horror-comedy shockingly afraid to really take risks.”
“Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls” arrives in theaters on October 19. You can watch the trailer below.
Here’s the synopsis:
Onyx the Fortuitous is struggling to find purpose with his soul-devouring side gig when he receives a coveted invitation to the mansion of his idol, Bartok the Great. Here, he joins Bartok and his mysterious delegation to raise the spirit of an ancient demon for a once-in-a-lifetime ritual.
