Oscar Isaac On 'Moon Knight' Season Two: "At The Moment, There's No Official Word" That It's Happening

The final episode of “Moon Knight” hit Disney+ on May 4, and left fans clamoring for more adventures with Oscar Isaac‘s Mark Spector and Stephen Grant (and Jake Lockley). But will there, in fact, be another season of “Moon Knight”? In an interview with Collider about his new comic book “Head Wounds: Sparrow,” Isaac divulged about the show’s future, and “at the moment, there’s no official word” another installment indeed happening.

“We can’t definitively say that,” Isaac replied when asked if he could confirm a second season of “Moon Knight.” “I need my teasing abilities. Can’t drain me of those. What a cock tease I am. Always been.” “That’s true,” said John Alvey, a close childhood friend of Isaac’s and one of the co-creators of “Head Wounds: Sparrow.” “No, I hope so,” Isaac continued. “We’ll see what happens. But at the moment, there’s no official word.”  Bob Johnson, another friend and comics co-creator, then chimed in, “Well, if there isn’t, we’re going to riot. If there isn’t one… You, me and everybody else is going to riot if there isn’t. I’ll tell you that.”

“Moon Knight” premiered on Disney+ on March 30, bringing one of the strangest Marvel heroes into the MCU. In the show, Isaac plays Marc Spector and Steven Grant, two alternate personalities of a man who suffers from dissociative identity disorder (DID for short) and who also serves as a conduit for the ancient Egyptian god Khonshu. As Spector/Grant struggles with different personas, he gets wrapped up in a cult leader’s attempt to become the avatar of another Egyptian goddess, Ammit.

Critics and audiences both enjoyed “Moon Knight,” with the show often being considered one of the best Phase 4 series next to “WandaVision” and “Loki.” But while the second season of “Loki” hits Disney+ next year, it’s still unconfirmed if either “Moon Knight” or “WandaVision” will get new seasons. If “Moon Knight” does get a new batch of episodes, though, don’t expect them to drop until Phase 6, so late 2024 at the earliest. The current Phase 5 calendar for Marvel shows on Disney+ is already stacked, with new series like “Echo,” “Secret Invasion,” and “Ironheart” on deck.

But that timeline should work for Isaac, as he’s on a brief hiatus from acting to spend more time with his family and two young sons. So, more “Moon Knight” in 2024, maybe? Again, a new season remains unconfirmed, but let’s hope it happens, as “Moon Knight” is one of the few recent MCU projects that breaks from what’s become a stale Marvel style.
