'Parks & Rec' Cast Reunites For New Episode Filmed From Home

NBC has been bending over backward trying to figure out how to get a revival of “The Office” off the ground. Fans have been clamoring for the folks at Dunder Mifflin to come back, even just for one episode. Alas, it isn’t happening anytime soon. But for many of those fans, the next best thing, a new episode of “Parks & Rec” appears to be in the works, bringing more awkward workplace banter and laughs.

According to NBC, Amy Poehler and the rest of the cast of “Parks & Rec” are set to return next week for an all-new special that was filmed during the COVID-19 lockdown. The reason for the special, other than to entertain fans of the comedy series, is to raise money for the charity, Feeding America. No word on what the plot of the new episode might be, but clearly, it will be pandemic-related, as Poehler confirms that everyone shot their portions of the episode in the comfort of their own homes.

Over on Instagram, ‘Parks’ star Chris Pratt, who has gone on to dominate the box office as completely different types of characters, confirmed that the episode has already been filmed. He said, “It’s true! We’ve already filmed the episode! Many are saying it’s the greatest episode of television ever to be filmed in Quarantine. It’s not a competition. But if it was… we would easily win. PLUS we’re donating a bunch of money as well to a really great cause. So there you have it. The creators of parks and rec have done it again! You get another episode of @nbcparksandrec on April 30th on NBC. People in need get help. And we FINALLY get that Emmy. Right? That’s how this works? Ok. See you soon!!”

It’s unclear what exactly the new “special” will look like. We could be witness to one big Zoom call with the cast. But regardless, for fans of “Parks & Rec,” this is still great news, and the fact that it also is set to help a good cause is just the icing on the cake.

The new “Parks & Rec” special is set to air on April 30.
