‘Red Notice’: Original Cast Returning For Two Sequels Shooting Back-To-Back

While the finished film didn’t really do much to excite the critics and discerning film fans, there’s no denying “Red Notice” was a massive hit for Netflix when it premiered in 2021. The streaming platform says “Red Notice” is the biggest film in Netflix history, with more than 364 million viewing hours in the first 28 days of release. So, you better believe the streamer is ready for a sequel. Two sequels, in fact. Back-to-back even.

According to Deadline, Netflix is working on a deal to bring back Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds for two “Red Notice” sequels. The kicker is that both films are expected to shoot back-to-back beginning in early 2023, with the original film’s writer-director, Rawson Marshall Thurber, also returning. The report claims that the new sequels will not only feature the original A-list trio but also add a number of other actors to form an ensemble that will turn the franchise into a heist series, similar to the “Ocean’s Eleven” films.

If this all pans out, it would obviously be the most expensive deal we’ve seen from Netflix, after the platform already broke the bank to fund the first adventure. Now, with two more, it’s clear Netflix isn’t afraid to hand out dump trucks of money if the viewership is there.

With production expected to begin in 2023, we could see the first sequel either arrive in late-2023 or early-2024. Either way, you can expect a lot of Ryan Reynolds quipping with Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot on Netflix in the future.
