Regina Hall, Amy Schumer And Wanda Sykes Are Your 2022 Oscars Hosts

The fan-favorite rumors regarding who would host this year’s 94th Academy Awards didn’t come to pass. No Tom Holland and Zendaya. No Hulu-ABC-Disney cross-promotion with “Only Murders in the Building” stars Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. No Dwayne Johnson and, no, Kevin Hart is not hosting either. Instead, it appears the trio of Regina Hall, Amy Schumer, and Wanda Sykes will become the telecast’s first anointed hosts since Jimmy Kimmel emceed in 2018.

The trio will be officially announced on Good Morning America tomorrow because no one controls Oscars’ publicity and announcements like GMA.

Hall has connections to this year’s Oscars producer, Will Packer, having appeared in “Girls Trip” and “Little.” Schumer and Sykes appeared in the 2017 comedy “Snatched.” It has been reported that each host will only emcee one hour of the expected three-hour telecast although one can assume they will all open the show together.

Each has a wide range of awards shows or ceremonies. Schumer hosted the 2015 MTV Movie Awards while Sykes was the primary speaker at the 2009 White House Correspondents Dinner. Hall has hosted the 2019 BET Awards, among other events.

Schumer most recently appeared in “The Humans” and will next be seen in Hulu’s “Life & Beth.” Sykes most recently has had a recurring role on HBO Max’s “The Other Two.” Hall just appeared in “Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul” which debuted at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival and was acquired by Focus Features for a Peacock streaming debut.

The 94th Academy Awards will take place on March 27 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood and will be broadcast on ABC.
