'Return To Seoul' Trailer: Davy Chou's Latest Follows A Young Woman's Search For Identity

Return to Seoul” is a film that played at a number of festivals in 2022, most notably TIFF and Cannes, where it earned rave reviews. However, when you look at the lineup of international films vying for Oscar glory, it doesn’t always get brought up. Well, a recent Spirit Awards nomination might help its case, as well as an upcoming theatrical release where more people will get a chance to watch Davy Chou’s latest.

As seen in the trailer for “Return to Seoul,” the film follows a young woman’s search for identity, as she travels to South Korea for the first time. You see, the young woman was adopted and raised in France, with very little knowledge of her birth parents and culture. So, her journey to South Korea starts as a fun travel decision but ultimately leads to some life-changing discoveries. 

The cast for the film includes Park Ji-Min, Oh Kwang-Rok, Guka Han, and Kim Sun-Young. “Return to Seoul” is directed by Davy Chou, who is best known for his acclaimed debut narrative feature, “Diamond Island,” which also debuted as part of the Cannes Film Festival.
