Salma Hayek In Talks To Join The Growing Cast Of Marvel Studios' 'The Eternals'

The Eternals” is one of several Marvel Studios films that exists, but also doesn’t exist. You see, after “Avengers: Endgame” and the upcoming “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” Marvel Studios doesn’t officially have any films slated. The studio has dates picked out but has yet to formally announce anything. But with that being said, we know ‘Eternals’ is joining “Black Widow,” “Shang-Chi,” “Black Panther 2,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” “Doctor Stranger 2,” and “Captain Marvel 2” as sure things in the next round of films. And in the case of ‘Eternals,’ we know this because the studio keeps casting huge names in roles.

According to The Wrap, the latest actor to join the growing cast of “The Eternals” will likely be Salma Hayek. The Oscar-nominated actress is in early talks to join the rumored cast that includes Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani, Richard Madden, and Ma Dong-seok.

“The Eternals” tells the story of a superpowered, god-like group of humans that were created by the Celestials, the Marvel equivalent of deities. The ancient humans band together to defend the Earth from all sorts of villains cosmic and otherwise.

It’s speculated that “The Eternals” will be the next film to begin production after “Black Widow” (which is currently filming). That would make ‘Eternals’ likely to be the second Marvel Studios release in 2020. The film is slated to be directed by acclaimed indie filmmaker Chloe Zhao, who is best known for her recent film “The Rider.”
