Scott Derrickson Will Team With Chris Evans On New Film 'Bermuda'

After the massive success of “Doctor Strange,” it was clear that Scott Derrickson, who recently left the production of the sequel, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” wouldn’t be sitting around without a gig for long. And according to a new report from Variety, it appears that the filmmaker has landed his next project—an action-adventure film titled “Bermuda.” But much like the mysterious place in the Caribbean, there’s weirdness abound in this news.

Okay, well maybe not “weirdness” in the sense that the project is cursed and Derrickson is likely going to be haunted by ghosts. That would be incredible, if true, but honestly, the interesting things about “Bermuda” are more the type of stuff that you’ll tell to your friends that have gathered and wow them with your Hollywood knowledge.

Case in point—at one time, director Sam Raimi was attached to “Bermuda.” As we all know, Raimi is the man who took over ‘Multiverse of Madness’ when Derrickson left. Now, Derrickson takes over “Bermuda,” a film that Raimi would eventually depart. Spooooooookkkyyyyyyyyy. In addition, it’s being reported that Derrickson is going to do a rewrite of the film, along with his frequent collaborator C. Robert Cargill, so that should be good news for fans of “Doctor Strange” and their previous film “Sinister.”

Another interesting aspect to the news is the fact that Derrickson has brought one of his MCU compatriots on board, with the report that Chris Evans is in talks to land the lead role in “Bermuda.” So, it took Derrickson to leave Marvel Studios for him to collaborate with Captain America. Intriguing, no?

That being said, Derrickson is a great up-and-coming filmmaker and Evans is a fantastic lead. Suddenly, “Bermuda” is a film that has shot up our most-anticipated films list.
