'A Secret Love' Trailer: Ryan Murphy & Jason Blum Join Forces For A New Doc About Lesbian Love

Ryan Murphy is the natural fit to produce a documentary about a sweet lesbian love story. But throwing in Jason Blum as an executive producer is a curveball. Bringing Murphy and Blum together makes for an unexpected and unstoppable duo. The Hollywood powerhouses have combined forces to bring audiences the SXSW Official 2020 Selection “A Secret Love.” A trailer for the new documentary has officially arrived.

A League of Their Own” is a film famously based on a real women’s baseball league, but the movie leaves out a love story that grew within the confines of the group. “A Secret Love” follows the love story of Terry Donahue and Pat Henschel. The couple met and fell in love more than six decades ago, and the documentary chronicles their struggles coming out to their conservative families and frankly just living life in a time that was severely prejudiced against gay people.

Take a look at the official synopsis for “A Secret Love” below:

A SECRET LOVE tells an incredible love story between Terry Donahue and Pat Henschel, whose relationship spans nearly seven decades. Terry played in the women’s professional baseball league, inspiring the hit movie A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN. But the film did not tell the real-life story of the women who remained closeted for most of their lives. This documentary follows Terry and Pat back to when they met for the first time, through their professional lives in Chicago, coming out to their conservative families and grappling with whether or not to get married. Facing the hardships of aging and illness, their love proves resilient as they enter the home stretch. Directed by Chris Bolan and produced by Alexa L. Fogel, Brendan Mason and Ryan Murphy. Executive produced by Blumhouse, and in association with Now This.

“A Secret Love” drops on Netflix on April 29. With Hollywood successes Murphy and Blum at the helm, the documentary is bound to offer something interesting. Take a look at the trailer below.
