Shailene Woodley & Miles Teller Will Battle Their Conservative Neighbor In The New Satire, 'The Fence'

Believe it or not, Shailene Woodley and Miles Teller have starred in four films together, with three from the “Divergent” franchise and the other one being “The Spectacular Now.” Well, now it’s time for a fifth, as the two young actors are expected to star in the new film, “The Fence.”

According to Deadline, Woodley and Teller are set to star opposite William Hurt in “The Fence,” which is a new political satire from Icelandic director Grímur Hákonarson. As the title suggests, the film tells the story of a nine-foot fence that is being erected around the house of an ultra-conservative man (Hurt) that is trying to protect himself from terrorists. He’s confronted by his liberal newlywed neighbors, played by Woodley and Teller.

As mentioned, the film is set to be directed by Hákonarson, who is probably best known for his work on the 2015 Cannes Award-winning film, “Rams.” His most recent feature is “The County,” which premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival. “The Fence” marks his English-language debut and is written by Shane Danielsen, based on a story from the director.

It’s unclear when production will begin on “The Fence,” but we still have plenty of Woodley and Teller stuff in the pipeline to keep us busy. Teller is currently working on the Netflix feature, “Spiderhead,” alongside co-star Chris Hemsworth and director Joseph Kosinski. And next year, he’ll be featured in the cast of “Top Gun: Maverick.” Woodley recently starred in the festival film, “Endings, Beginnings.” She is also one of the stars of the upcoming drama, “Last Letter From Your Lover.”
