City Council Votes To Remove Trump's Walk Of Fame Star Due To "Disturbing Treatment Of Women"

The Hollywood Walk of Fame is one of the most recognizable landmarks in all of entertainment. Loads of celebrities from all aspects of the entertainment industry have been honored by having a star added to the Walk through the decades. However, lately, the Walk of Fame has been in the news for unusually negative reasons.

Last month, a young guy allegedly took a pickaxe to the star for President Donald Trump, leaving behind a crater where the star once was. And this wasn’t the first example of vandalism towards Trump’s star since the former reality TV star and businessman was elected to office in November 2016. But it seems that this latest attempt to deface the Walk of Fame has reached the attention of the West Hollywood City Council, who recently voted to permanently remove the star.

An item that was introduced at a recent City Council meeting read (via THR):

“The City Council will consider adopting a resolution urging the Los Angeles City Council and Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to remove President Donald J. Trump’s star from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, due to his disturbing treatment of women and other actions that do not meet the shared values of the City of West Hollywood, the region, state, and country”

And during said meeting, the West Hollywood City Council voted unanimously in favor of the item, which is now going to be presented to the Los Angeles City Council and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, who are responsible for the Walk of Fame.

If the Chamber of Commerce agrees to remove the star, Donald Trump would be the first person to ever have a star removed from the Walk. Previously, the Chamber of Commerce was urged to remove Bill Cosby’s star after dozens of allegations of sexual assault were leveled at the actor/comedian.

At that time, the Chamber refused to remove the star and the CEO Leron Gubler said, “The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a registered historic landmark. Once a star has been added to the Walk, it is considered a part of the historic fabric of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Because of this, we have never removed a star from the Walk.”

The difference between Cosby’s situation and the ongoing Trump situation is that people are using pickaxes to destroy the star, which is costly and dangerous. We’ll have to wait and see if the Chamber will follow the City Council’s wishes and remove the President’s star.
