Based on the BBC show “The Thick of It” with a similar premise, “Veep” was adapted for American television by writer Armando Iannucci (“The Death of Stalin“). The show went aired on April 22, 2012, with Selina Meyer (Louis-Dreyfus) originally the Vice President pushed to the side and ignored by the commander-in-chief. However, her bold personality and loud opinions cannot be ignored, and she soon gains a footing in the political world, with a large amount of help from her staff keeping her in check. The cast will also included Tony Hale (“Arrested Development“), Anna Chlumsky (“My Girl“), Gary Cole (“The Good Wife“), Hugh Laurie (“House M.D.“), and Matt Walsh (“Ted“), many of whom are returning for the final season.

“Veep” won 3 Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series, with Louis-Dreyfus winning 6 Primetime Emmy Awards herself and five consecutive Golden Globe nominations. Those are just a few awards and laurels the phenomenal series has acquired over its six-season run, and will probably bring in a few more before it’s done.
