Vin Diesel Says 'Fast and Furious' Franchise Needs "Maintenance"

There’s been a lot of drama in the “Fast and Furious” universe, mostly caused by Tyrese Gibson. The actor was none too pleased to get the news that the ninth installment has been delayed to 2020, and moreover, that a spinoff involving Dwayne Johnson‘s Hobbs (and Jason Statham‘s Shaw) is now on the calendar for 2019. Everything hurt just a little bit more given that Gibson pleaded with The Rock last month not to break up the family or whatever by doing the solo joint, and even claims that he turned down his own buddy movie with Ludacris all in the name of #loyalty or whatever. Now, Vin Diesel is wading into the controversy.

The actor hit Instagram to talk about the latest “Fast and Furious” chatter but didn’t really address anything specific. In essence, he reiterates how much he cares about the fans, and says that the series is in need of “maintenance,” and that Universal is more than happy to let him tinker with the things that keep the engine running smoothly. However, most pointedly, the post comes with a picture of Diesel and The Rock together. I guess we know whose side Vin is on….

Hopefully Vin can smooth everything over, and keep the family happy. But it looks he’ll have to give Gibson a call first.

“Fast and Furious 9” arrives on April 10, 2020.
