Steven Spielberg‘s "Bridge Of Spies" is heading to the New York Film Festival for its World Premiere, but it remains to be seen just what mode we’ll find the director in. Will he be changing the Oscar race with his Cold War thriller, or delivering an elevated genre piece? Or perhaps it’ll fall somewhere between the two? We’ll know soon enough, but two clips have arrived to give us a sense of what’s on the way.
Tom Hanks leads the picture in the based-on-a-true-story tale about an insurance lawyer who is tasked by the U.S. government to negotiate the release of an American reconnaissance pilot shot down over the Soviet Union borders. The film has added bonafides with a script written by Matt Charman and Ethan Coen & Joel Coen, plus a supporting cast that includes Mark Rylance, Amy Ryan, Alan Alda, Eve Hewson, and more.
"Bridge Of Spies" arrives on October 16th. Watch the clips below along with a new featurette, brief interviews with Spielberg and Hanks, and a new TV spot.
