Watch: Jason Bateman's 'Bad Words' Spells Out Its First Red Band Trailer

Bad Words

Taking the leap from actor to director can be a tricky feat, not always easily landed (check out our recent feature), but for his first time at bat Jason Bateman stayed firmly in his wheelhouse, going the comedic route with “Bad Words.” But just how filthy, and foul-mouthed it is might surprised you.

The first trailer has landed for the movie, and perhaps not surprisingly, it’s running red band. Not because of excessive drugs or sex, but rather the plethora of f-bombs and carefully crafted insults that fly throughout. The 2011 Black List winning script by Andrew Dodge tells the story a bitter thirty-something man (Bateman) who exploits a loophole to enter the children’s National Quill Spelling Bee championships. And this isn’t some cutesy story, but rather that tale of a dude who still stop at nothing and stomp on everyone to make sure he gets the top prize.

“Bad Words” premiered at TIFF earlier this year, and while the audience we were with absolutely howled through, this writer was a bit less impressed. Anyway, you can see for yourself when this hits next March. Watch below. Updated: Green band trailer added as well.
