Watch Tom Hiddleston Sing As Hank Williams In First Clip From 'I Saw The Light'

I Saw The LightSqueeee! No one (bar perhaps Benedict Cumberbatch) gets Tumblr in a tizzy more than Tom Hiddleston right now. The British actor won legions of fans thanks to his performances in Joanna Hogg’s films and Terence Davies’ “The Deep Blue Sea” (and apparently a villainous turn in a superhero movie of some kind), but he’s now moving up a gear: he’s got two blockbuster leads on the way with “Crimson Peak” and “Kong: Skull Island,” and has two movies at the just-underway TIFF.

We’re particularly intrigued by Ben Wheatley’s “High-Rise,” but perhaps even more of a leap for the actor is “I Saw The Light,” which sees Hiddleston playing legendary country singer Hank Williams, a rather unexpected casting choice. And the actor himself has just debuted the first look at his version of Williams, unveiling a clip from the movie on his Twitter.

The clip sees Hiddleston’s Williams recording the song “Move It On Over,” and also gives a glimpse at the actor’s real-life love Elizabeth Olsen, who plays his wife. So what do we think? Does Hiddleston pull off a very American role? You can take a look at the footage below, stay tuned for our verdict on the movie, and check the film as a whole out on November 27th.
