Woody Harrelson & Roseanne Barr Push COVID-19 Conspiracy Theories On Social Media

As we find with most major events in the US, there are always those in the population that love to spread conspiracy theories and false information. (Sometimes those spreading it actually call themselves President, which is a discussion for another time.) So, with the COVID-19 pandemic wreaking havoc on the lives of billions around the world, it’s obvious we’re going to have a large number of people acting like fools. And celebrities are no exception, as we see with Woody Harrelson and Roseanne Barr.

We’ve already seen people like Tyrese Gibson, Vanessa Hudgens, and Evangeline Lilly give us some terrible hot takes and theories about coronavirus. However, those people were quick to release their takes, without as much of a flood of information that we have now. This makes the conspiracy theories pushed by Harrelson and Barr a bit more egregious.

Despite deleting his social media post, Woody Harrelson has found himself in the crosshairs after sharing a video, which he admits to not vetting, that discusses the theory that 5G cellphone towers are somehow used to spread COVID-19. It’s a truly ridiculous theory that has been disproved all over by true medical experts and scientists. (Common sense would also tell you that places with no 5G towers are still getting COVID-19, so the theory is garbage.) But, you know, celebrities are going to celebrity.

“I haven’t fully vetted it. I find it very interesting,” he wrote (via NY Post) about the conspiracy theory video/false news that he shared with his millions of followers on Instagram.

While many are probably shocked that Harrelson would spread false information, as we tend to expect more from him, it’s definitely not a surprise that Roseanne Barr is on the front lines of spreading ridiculous theories about an event. She’s made a name for herself recently, especially since the cancellation of her series, for saying some truly unbelievable, dangerous things. And for COVID-19, that’s no exception. She recently spoke with Norm Macdonald, on the comedian’s quarantine show, about what she thinks is the true reason that COVID-19 has been spreading.

“You know what it is, Norm? I think they’re just trying to get rid of all my generation,” Barr said. “The boomer ladies that, you know, that inherited their, you know, are widows. They inherited the money so they got to go wherever the money is and figure out a way to get it from people.”

As always, it’s important to remember that celebrities, for the most part, have been made famous for something that doesn’t involve scientific knowledge. So, please don’t believe everything they say.
