Reunites The Actress With ‘Tanner Hall’ Director Francesca Gregorini
With a starring role in David Fincher‘s highly anticipated “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” in production and buzz still humming off her small, but integral breakout turn in “The Social Network, actress Rooney Mara is gearing up to be one of the most coveted actresses on the planet.
Reps for the actress have confirmed to us that Mara is set to star in the drama, “Emanuel and the Truth about Fishes,” which will reunite the rising star with her “Tanner Hall” director Francesca Gregorini. The film, penned by Gregorini as well, centers around a young, troubled woman who becomes obsessed with her mysterious new neighbor that looks uncannily like her dead mother. Gregorini’s “Tanner Hall” (which was co-directed with Tatiana von Furstenberg) is a coming-of-age pic starring Mara that debuted at TIFF in 2009 to strong acclaim and was recently picked up by Anchor Bay.
The film is gearing up to shoot this summer with Paul Schiff (Paul Schiff Productions) producing with Kevin Iwashina (Preferred Content) executive producing. Deb Aquila will be casting.
There had been rumors circling recently that Rachel Weisz had been cast in the film but reps for the actress have told us this not true. And speaking of Weisz, she and Daniel Craig were also linked to a Czech-filmed picture about the Communist show trials of Hungary, but reps for the actors have said their involvement is “completely untrue.”
