There’s no shortage of climate documentaries built around the language of crisis, but “Groundswell” is positioning itself around a more practical question: what happens if the solution starts in the soil? The new documentary from award-winning filmmakers Josh Tickell and Rebecca Harrell Tickell has released its official trailer and poster ahead of its June 5 debut on Prime Video.

Fresh off its Cannes premiere, the film was recently honored with the Golden Globe Prize for Documentary, recognizing its focus on urgent social issues. The film follows farmers, scientists, Indigenous leaders, and organizers across five continents as they examine how regenerative agriculture can restore soil health, draw carbon from the atmosphere, rebuild biodiversity, and strengthen food systems.
“Groundswell” also serves as the final chapter in the Tickells’ regenerative agriculture trilogy, following “Kiss the Ground” and “Common Ground.” Those films helped bring soil health into the mainstream climate conversation, and this new installment broadens the frame globally, viewing regeneration as both an ecological and an economic shift.
Timed with the release, the filmmakers are also launching the “One Billion Acres” campaign, a global initiative aimed at accelerating the move toward certified regenerative agriculture, with Nespresso already signed on as the first corporate partner. The push arrives amid renewed national attention on food policy, farming, climate resilience, and the next phase of U.S. agricultural legislation.
“Groundswell” debuts globally on Prime Video on June 5. Watch the trailer below.
