Kate Winslet To Star In Woody Allen's 2017 Movie

If you think Woody Allen turning 80, as he did in December, means that his workload would drop off, you would be quite mistaken. Like Clint Eastwood before him, the writer/director/star has only become more prolific recently —quite a feat for a filmmaker who’s made a movie every year for over three decades.

News that Allen had been writing and directing a TV series for Amazon led many to suggest that he might skip his usual window, or that he might abandon making movies altogether. But even before his latest movie “Cafe Society,” which premiered at Cannes last month, is in theaters, and with the untitled Amazon show starring Miley Cyrus and Elaine May still a ways off, he’s already gearing up his next project, and has somehow found an A-list star he hasn’t worked with yet.

Variety reports that Kate Winslet will star in Allen’s latest project, which as usual is untitled and there are no plot details yet. Winslet will squeeze the project in before she shoots survival drama “The Mountain Between Us” with Idris Elba —the film will shoot in the fall, a touch later than Allen’s schedule usually allows. More casting will surely be announced soon —in the meantime, you can read our review of “Cafe Society,” which opens next month, here, and read Ronan Farrow’s piece about the sexual abuse allegations directed at his father here.
