Before making his directorial debut last year with sleeper hit “The Adjustment Bureau,” George Nolfi made his bread and butter as a screenwriter, with his spec script “Honor Among Thieves” famously reworked into Steven Soderbergh’s Euro-themed heist sequel “Ocean’s Twelve.” Nolfi also did some fine tuning on “The Bourne Ultimatum,” and now is set to lead the overhaul of “Black Swan” writer Mark Heyman’s Facebook thriller “XOXO.”
The thriller, which will retain Heyman as sole writer but under Nolfi’s guidance as he will also be directing the film, follows “an on-the-rise exec who's engaged to be married but enjoys flirting online. He meets an alluring woman on Facebook and the two begin a virtual relationship, but the Internet romance begins seeping into the protag's actual life in a deadly way.” So yes, the “Fatal Attraction” for the millennial generation — "Swimfan," anyone?
Darren Aronofsky will produce alongside “Sideways” producer Michael London, with the project being developed at Lionsgate, but there is with no firm timeline for production. Nolfi also recently signed on to rewrite and direct the Cuban Missile Crisis drama “One Minute To Midnight,” so we'd guess whichever one can line up a cast and financing first will will win out.
