The actor/singer crossover is almost as old as the industry itself, with a mixed success rate. From Elvis Presley to Mick Jagger to David Bowie to Madonna to Will Oldham (though he was a child actor first), from the famous to the little-known, many have stepped both on the stage and in front of the camera. And now another acclaimed artist is attempting the same.
Lykke Li, the Swedish singer/songwriter behind “Little Bit” and “Dance Dance Dance,” and an engaging live performer in her own right, is trying out her skills in the acting realm with a role in the upcoming Swedish thriller “Tommy.” And while the first trailer for the movie doesn’t offer much of a suggestion of how she is in front of the camera—she says about one line of dialogue (in Swedish)—she does have an expressive face which does some lifting all on its own.
As for the movie, it follows a woman who returns Stockholm to meet up with her partner, Tommy, a year after committing one of the biggest robberies in Swedish history. But things get a bit hairy when she starts pushing for her share of the loot, as you’ll see below in the trailer. Directed by Tarik Saleh, it’s actually his second collaboration with Li, having directed the video for single, “I Follow Rivers.” You can watch that below too. [Consequence Of Sound]
