Got a Tip?

Joel Edgerton To Star In Thriller ‘It Comes At Night’ From ‘Krisha’ Director Trey Edward Shults

One of the nice success stories of 2015 revolved around Trey Edward Shults and his directorial debut, “Krisha.” His intimate, intense family drama was a big hit at SXSW (winning the Audience Award and Grand Jury Prize) and kicked off a great run for the movie which saw it hit Cannes, festivals around the world, and finally open in cinemas this past spring. And now Shults is making his next move, and it’ll find him moving into some new territory.

Deadline reports that he’ll write and direct the thriller “It Comes At Night.” Joel Edgerton has signed up to star in the movie playing a man who must protect his wife and son from a presence that’s terrorizing them. The movie is set up over at A24, who also released “Krisha,” and it certainly sounds like Shults is using the opportunity to work on a slightly bigger scale without doing a “Jurassic World” sized leap like Colin Trevorrow. But if this picture connects, I’m sure those bigger gigs won’t be far behind.

No word yet on when production begins, but hopefully this one gets moving soon.
