Got a Tip?

‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 7 Will Air Summer 2017

A couple weeks back, there was a minor panic when “Game Of Thrones” showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss suggested that season 7 might be delayed due to unpredictable weather conditions on the show’s locations. And while the traditional spring debut of the series is off the table, the good news is that HBO won’t be keeping you waiting for too long.

The network has announced that “Game Of Thrones” season 7 will start filming this summer in Northern Ireland, with additional production taking place in Spain and Iceland, all leading to a summer 2017 debut on HBO.

“Now that winter has arrived on ‘Game Of Thrones,’ executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss felt that the storylines of the next season would be better served by starting production a little later than usual, when the weather is changing,” said President of Programming Casey Bloys. “Instead of the show’s traditional spring debut, we’re moving the debut to summer to accommodate the shooting schedule.”

Remember when Benioff and Weiss have said there could be as little as 13 episodes left in the tank? It sounds like they are sticking to that plan, as season 7 will only run 7 episodes long. So time to start getting ready to say farewell to Westeros.
