Director Tate Taylor has mostly kept it light so far with his feature films, helming the crowd-pleasing “The Help” and the James Brown biopic “Get On Up.” But for “The Girl On The Train” he takes a darker turn for what is looking to be one of the fall’s most anticipated thrillers.

Based on the novel by Paula Hawkins and featuring a pretty terrific cast including Emily Blunt, Haley Bennett, Luke Evans, Justin Theroux, Allison Janney, Edgar Ramirez, and more, the movie centers on a young woman who keeps an eye on a couple of young people during her daily commute, only to become witness to something unspeakable. Here’s the official synopsis:

In the thriller, Rachel (Blunt), who is devastated by her recent divorce, spends her daily commute fantasizing about the seemingly perfect couple who live in a house that her train passes every day, until one morning she sees something shocking happen there and becomes entangled in the mystery that unfolds.

There are only a few brief moments of new footage in here, but it’s worth another spin. “The Girl On The Train” opens on October 7th.
