Got a Tip?

Miranda July’s Next Movie Is A Heist Film; Cast Revealed

It was only a couple weeks ago that we brought you news that Annapurna and Plan B were bringing audiences the latest from filmmaker Miranda July. At the time, not much was known about the film, other than it being Jully’s first feature film since 2011. Well, now we have a lot more information about the film, including the great cast.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Annapurna and Plan B have signed Evan Rachel Wood, Gina Rodriguez, Richard Jenkins, and Debra Winger to headline the cast for this still untitled film. While we don’t have a title just yet, we do know more about what we can expect from the film. First, it’s a heist movie. The storyline follows a woman named Old Dolio, played by Wood, whose life is turned upside down when her con-artist parents invite an outsider to their next heist. Jenkins and Winger are portraying the parents, with Rodriguez playing the woman who is brought into the heist and learns all the family’s secrets.

This is a great cast of actors that have quietly put together resumes that are pretty impressive. Evan Rachel Wood is currently seen in HBO’s massive series, “Westworld,” with the second season right around the corner. Rodriguez is no stranger to TV, as well, starring as the titular character in “Jane the Virgin.” However, she has recently branched out into film in a big way, starring in Alex Garland’sAnnihilation,” and the just-announced ‘Carmen Sandiego‘ film for Netflix.

Debra Winger can be seen in the Netflix comedy series “The Ranch,” and Richard Jenkins is coming off a career highlight, being nominated for an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his work in “The Shape of Water.”

There’s no anticipated release date, at this time. However, The Hollywood Reporter says production for the untitled heist film from Miranda July will begin in May.
