John Cusack Thinks Disney Will "F--- Up" The 'High Fidelity' TV Series

Judging by the social media response to the news that Disney was remakingHigh Fidelity” as a TV series with a female lead, we’re going to say that the project is definitely going to divide fans.

While some welcome a new take on a semi-classic film, others just see this as Hollywood, yet again, tinkering with a good thing and ruining it for eternity. While all of our opinions don’t really matter, in the scheme of things, one that might matter is John Cusack. And he is not shy about sharing his opinion.

The star of the 2000 film has taken to Twitter to voice his skepticism, and possible disapproval, of the Disney announcement. Cusack decided to hit the social media network and answer some fan questions about the series.

In response to reports that claim the series will be lighter in tone, he said, “Up beat ? sound like they may miss the majic mix – 🙂 what came first the music or the misery ?” (Now would be the right time to say that we didn’t edit any of Mr. Cusack’s remarks. We thought it might be best to keep them as they were published, full of spelling errors and crazy grammar.)

He continues to talk about Disney (we think), when he says, “Of course – they want to brand their thing with our thing- they’ll fuck it up ;)”

Cusack goes on to bring up a couple more answers, but the gist is clear – he’s not the biggest fan of Disney’s recent announcement. To each their own, but as is always mentioned when reboots and remakes are announced, these projects never replace the original.

So, if your brand of “High Fidelity” includes more misery, curse words, and a male lead, then the Cusack version is ready to be viewed and enjoyed. However, if you’re willing to take a chance on something new, and give it a shot, Disney is glad to take your money in 2019.
