Got a Tip?

Zack Snyder Won’t Stop Talking About Batman And Reveals Dick Grayson Is The Dead DCEU Robin

Sure, it’s great when a filmmaker takes the time out to answer questions that fans pose on social media. Of course, that’s as long as the fans aren’t complete trolls. However, in the case of Zack Snyder and his various films in the DC Universe, enough is enough. It’s time to let it go.

Once again, Snyder, who directed “Man of Steel” and “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” (nominated for the worst film title of all time), as well as “Justice League” (“directed,” *wink, wink*), is taking to his preferred social media platform, Vero, to answer questions and to give more insight into where he would have taken the DCEU if he still had control (via Batman News).

And if anything, he’s proving that DC fans surely dodged a bullet.

Recently, the filmmaker was asked to confirm if it was Jason Todd’s defaced Robin suit in the quick ‘BvS’ scene in the Batcave. For those people that aren’t familiar with the comics, Jason Todd is the second boy to wear the Robin costume is perhaps most famous for being bludgeoned to death by the Joker. Well, shockingly, Snyder said the suit was actually for Dick Grayson, who is still alive and well in the comic books and never died.

Why did he change comic book canon? No explanation was given. Maybe just to be edgy and different? Perhaps just because he thought it would be badass to kill fan-favorite Dick Grayson? With Zack Snyder, it’s anyone’s guess.

However, what Snyder did open up about was his plans for the Robin character. In a subsequent film, he would have kept Dick Grayson dead and instead would have introduced the character of Carrie Kelley. Again, for those who aren’t big nerds like me, Kelley is the female Robin that took over the mantle in Frank Miller’s classic “Dark Knight Returns.” This is clearly Snyder’s way of showing his Frank Miller fanboy status, which he wears on his cut-off sleeves.

Luckily, or sadly (depending on if you’re a #SnyderCut person), we’ll probably never see Snyder’s long-term plans come to fruition. Clearly, Warner Bros. is just desperate to move on from the whole situation and is attempting to proceed with a new Batman, a new Joker, and a brand new tone.
